Scholarship Fund Challenge
Dr. Dorothy Pieniadz, founding mother of Big Sisters, issued a generous fundraising challenge in support of Big Sisters of Rhode Island’s Scholarship Fund.
The Fund was established several years ago to help Little Sisters who are ready to pursue their dream of higher education. On an annual basis scholarships of $1,000 are awarded to girls who successfully complete the application and selection process.
“As a founding mother of Big Sisters and the first Dean of Students at Rhode Island College, education and mentoring have been my lifelong passions. For the past 40 years I have seen the magic that Big Sister mentors have brought into the lives of their Little Sisters – especially their appreciation for education.“
Right now, the number of Little Sisters applying for Big Sisters scholarship support has never been greater. Given this increase I am issuing a special fundraising challenge. Help match my $5,000 pledge by August 31 and your gift will go four times as far. How? If we succeed, I will contribute an additional $10,000 toward scholarships for Little Sisters! That’s right, your gift of $35, $50, $100, or more will be QUADRUPLED! To help Big Sisters meet the challenge click here:
