Membership on a board committee is a wonderful way to assist Big Sisters. It is also a great way for a potential board member to get a feel for the agency's work and needs. Committees usually meet monthly (or more or less often), depending upon board or agency initiatives, activities or events. Standing committees are as follows:

• Development: Close work with the executive director on all issues and initiatives relating to fundraising.
   
• Event: All That Jazz annual fundraiser at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.
   
• Marketing: For Big Sister recruitment, general agency PR, support for the annual fundraiser, and other specific events, activities and projects.
    
• Services: Close work with the agency on issues relating to delivery of our programs and services; and assistance on special projects and research as they pertain to service delivery
