Big Sisters Activities

The agency offers a free activity each month for all Big and Little Sisters. Most often these are group activities. Here is how your workplace can get involved:

  • Teach or share: Are there employees with special skills and talents that they would like to teach or present to a group of Big and Little Sisters? Past activities of this sort include jewelry making, hand-printed t-shirts, stained glass, and skin care.

  • Create an activity: An employee group might like to put on a special activity, such as a Halloween party or special tour of your workplace (especially if it is an interesting place!). Our Bigs and Littles would love it!

  • Sponsor an activity: Certain major activities are scheduled each year on our calendar, such as the annual holiday party in December and the Little Sisters' Graduation Party in June, for which we seek sponsors. Further, the agency welcomes the opportunity to create new ones, where a company can match its interests to a sponsorship and involve employees in planning and execution. For instance, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island employees worked with the Big Sisters agency to create, and the company sponsored, a Day of Health and Beauty for Bigs and Littles at the Marriott. Blue Cross's employee volunteer group, the BlueAngels, participated in presenting and supporting the activities that day.
